Melbourne Beauty Blogger Event (MBBE) 2011

A week ago I attended the Melbourne Beauty Blogger Event (MBBE), the second event since its inception last October – founded by Valerie (Ponikuta).  In contrast to last year’s event, where most people were meeting each other for the first time, this year’s MBBE was more like a cosy reunion from the continued friendships formed at last year’s event, and new ones formed at the Australian Beauty Bloggers Weekend held in September.

Aside from my crappy video editing skills, you can tell just from the photos that the event was intimate and indulgent – spoilt with mini manicures, hand massages, delicious cupcakes and cocktails from the ladies at Miss Fox Beauty Salon.

I’ve said before that the best blogger events are those organised and influenced by bloggers themselves – and this one was no exception.  Valerie & the 2010 MBBE group put our beauty brains together to create the logo, brainstormed venues and contributed our ideas that made the event a success.

Special guests of the night was Kate Morris (founder of Adore Beauty ) who shared her personal journey on how she started her online business at the age of 21 with only $12K and a dial up modem, growing it to the business it is today, offering over 100 brands and generating more than $2 million in revenue. It was really inspiring to hear her story of how determination and persistence eventually paid off,  with the ultimate recognition of success in recognised in winning the 2010 Telstra marie claire Young Business Women’s Award.

Me with Kate Morris

Last but not least, the MBBE goody bag!  Props to Valerie for organising a goody bag that’s just the right size – indulgent enough to make any seasoned beauty blogger squeal, and manageable weight to carry home without causing a sore arm.

Thanks Valerie for hosting & all the MBBE girls for making 2011 another memorable year!

  5. [...] Tip: To avoid lips looking blotchy with long lasting lipsticks, prep lips with a lip liner for an even wash of colour as a lip base. I’m not sure if I’m loving the semi-gold semi-navy packaging.. Your thoughts? Applied directly with a lip brush. No balm.   I received this as part of the Melbourne Beauty Bloggers Weekend 2011.
