This time last year, it did cross my mind that 2013 could easily turn out to be just an extension of the momentum of 2012, based on the way things were going at work and on the blog. That very idea made me feel restless and so over the course of this year, I set my mind to make a difference with the faith in myself that there will be no regrets if I did all that I set out to do.
And so 2013 came to be the year where I took the plunge despite the risks and my fears, and ended the year on a high despite the odds.
For Beauty Swatch, 2013 saw the launch of my print edition book, collaboration with Clinique (which won an award), guest speaking gig at Problogger, mentions in The Herald Sun, Cosmopolitan, Bride to Be, and Shop Til You Drop Magazines, reaching 6 million page views, 100,000 Facebook fans and the opportunity to work with some amazing brands. I also really enjoyed getting to know my blogger friends better & to this day I still lose track of time whenever I’m with them.
On a personal front, 2013 marked the year of my promotion to management level after many years of lateral career moves, and also the start of a new beginning with the acquisition of my dream camera (Canon 5D Mark III) and new photography blog in the hope of starting a freelance career some day.
Unlike the hazy forecast this time last year, I’m really looking forward to 2014, as it will be the year where I will grow my photography portfolio (slowly but surely), grow as a leader at work and also be the sunset year for Beauty Swatch.
Yep, you heard that right!
I have decided that 2014 will be my last year blogging at Beauty Swatch! I have been contemplating when to break the news online seeing as I’ve been thinking about it since 6 months ago and the idea cemented after the Problogger Event in Gold Coast. As much as I am thankful for the amazing opportunities and support from everyone, I believe there is a time and place for everything. Just like those who like to celebrate their birthdays over extended periods, I want to pace myself in letting go of Beauty Swatch and want to focus the lead up to our 5th blog birthday (in June) on the content that resonates with me most before I wrap things up and feel satisfied that I have achieved everything that I wanted to with this site.
I’ve been a bit behind with organising this year’s giveaways as part of my tradition to give away any Christmas beauty sets I receive from PR to my readers! I have received a few last minute items in the mail today that I will put together into a giveaway post soon.
Wish everyone a Merry Christmas & I hope you will continue to enjoy what will be my last posts on this site for 2014! My new online presence will be focused on my photography account. You can tune into my photography musings at:
