AVON Smooth Minerals Lip Tint – Smooth Nude, Smooth Pink, Smooth Berry

AVON, LIP TINTS, Lips, NC20, Yishan | by — June 21, 2011

Tags: , , ,

Brand: Avon
Range: Smooth Minerals Lip Tint
Shades: Smooth Nude, Smooth Pink, Smooth Berry
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Very subtle sheer lip tint with the slightest hint of shimmer
  • Made with naturally derived mineral complex, nourishing emollients & vitamins
  • In Australia this is available in the 3 shades swatched. In US there are more shades such as “Smooth Raisin”.
  • Verdict: Lip tints are great for those who say they don’t like wearing lipstick but secretly want to wear it when they see others pull it off.  But these tints don’t tick my boxes as the shades are too sheer and not particularly flattering on me for me to justify purchasing.

CALVIN KLEIN Delicious Luxury Creme Lipstick – Rose Berry

CALVIN KLEIN, Lips, LIPSTICK, Yishan | by — May 7, 2011

Brand: Calvin Klein
Range: Delicious Luxury Creme Lipstick
Shade: Rose Berry
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • This is my 2nd Calvin Klein lipstick (my first was over 10 years ago) and I wish I could tell you where it’s officially stocked because I can’t seem to find links other than discount retailers.
  • Moisturising, creamy lipstick that leaves a satin sheen.
  • Decent wear and leaves lips supple and soft.
  • Rose Berry is a rosy take on “my lips but better” that’s great for work and weekends.
  • It’s actually a really high quality lipstick and is a shame it doesn’t seem to be officially stocked on counters.
  • Verdict: It’s only $13.50 AUD on Strawberrynet if you want to grab this great everyday shade while it’s still floating around the internet.

I received this product as a ‘Gift with Purchase’ from Strawberrynet.com

KORRES Lip Butter – Guava

Brand: Korres
Range: Lip Butter
Flavour: Guava
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Read my previous review of the Korres Lip Butter formula here.
  • Guava is a milky lip butter in guava scent, formulated without synthetic fragrances
  • As with all Korres products, they are formulated without mineral oil, silicone, propylene glycol and ethanolamine.
  • Verdict: Recommended for those that want to add a milky finish to their lips, or want a colourless option for night time.  In my opinion, Korres Lip Butters are one of those must-try-in-your-lifetime lip balms especially for lip enthusiasts.

PHYTOCARE PURE Papaya Ointment

LIP TREATMENTS, Lips, PHYTOCARE, Yishan | by — May 2, 2011

Brand: Pure by Phytocare
Range: Pure Papaya (Paw Paw) Ointment
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Petrochemical free & all natural ingredients including Calendula, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil & Macadamia Oil & Vitamin E.
  • Tastes similar to other paw paw ointments in the market, however this is more emollient and lightweight
  • Instantly hydrates, but the results are short lived
  • Australian made and owned
  • Verdict: This ointment is a let down for me.  It absorbs so quickly (and completely) into skin within 30 to 60 seconds leaving the lip surface is matte/dry again.  Personally I prefer a lip balm that leaves a protective barrier so you don’t have to re-apply within seconds to keep it soft and supple.

Looks glossy when just applied, but absorbs within seconds without looking like you applied anything.

RRP: $6.95 AUD
I bought this from a pharmacy.

LA MER The Lip Balm

LA MER, LIP TREATMENTS, Lips, Yishan | by — May 1, 2011

Brand: La Mer
Range: The Lip Balm
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Described by La Mer as “a luxurious and intensely reparative balm formulated with a potent concentration of La Mer’s Miracle Broth.”
  • Sweet nutty taste (from the soothing nut oils) and contains aloe, fish protein and eucalyptus leaf oil for a soothing and cooling effect.
  • Lightweight yet moisturising, healing and melts on lips
  • Smoothes the lip surface with a natural sheen.
  • Long lasting moisture yet doesn’t leave residue, making it a great base under lipstick.
  • Contains petrolatum
  • Verdict: It’s one of the longest lasting lip balms I have tried, but for the price tag it really is a lust-have collectors item at a whopping price tag of $90 AUD / $45 USD.  Whilst it’s long lasting in moisture, I wouldn’t say that this is a healing lip balm, making it more of a daytime lip balm rather than an overnight treatment if you are prone to chapped lips.

I bought this from Nordstrom.
