Brand: Australis
Range: Colour Inject Mineral Lipgloss
Shade: Bollywood
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Contains Kakadu Plum (Vitamin C), minerals, antioxidants and lip defining peptides to smoothe and moisturise lips.
  • Lightweight in texture, non-sticky with a lychee fragrance
  • Available in 10 shades, Bollywood is a sheer red that transforms from bold red to juicy tint once blended.
  • Verdict: Some like their glosses thick (sculpting & line smoothing), some like theirs emollient & lightweight.  You’ll like the texture of this one if you’re the latter, but be careful not to over apply as the colour will slide around.  Bollywood is great for those that want to “ease into” the red lip starting with a sheer tint.

AUSTRALIS Mint Condition Lip Gloss

Brand: Australis
Range: Mint Condition Lip Gloss SPF30
Shades: Happily Ever After (Light Pink), Meow With your Mind (Peach Pink), Freely Innocent (Clear Gold Shimmer), Mrs Mellonwellen’s Melons (Melon), Un-Birthday Suit (Brown latte), An Evening With? (Bright Red)
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • SPF30 minty lip gloss packed with guava & Kakadu plum extracts for nourising lips. Also contains cinnamon leaf oil, shea butter and beeswax.
  • Available in 7 shades, of which I got to try 6.  (The other shade is Malice in Wonder Pink, a hot pink).
  • All shade names were named by Australis Facebook fans!
  • Texture is surprisingly thick & needs “intermediate” skill to apply if you just rely on the slanted applicator. The combination of thick formula + pigmented red/melon shades means you need to blend really well to prevent streaks.  Using a lip brush makes it easier to blend fully into the lip surface.
  • My pet peeve is when lip products do not have shade names printed on the actual packaging.  The shade name was on the disposable packaging which I threw out, so now I have to rely on my memory for the shade name.
  • Verdict:  Thumbs up for An Evening With? & Mrs Mellonwelleon’s Melons - these gorgeous shades are a good enough reason to check it out. But to get Holy Grail status from me, the applicator needs to be easy to use for quick touchups on the go.

Click to view enlarged image.  I used a lip brush for the pigmented shades as it can look streaky if not blended well.
Despite the peachy shade descriptions, the other shades all looked kinda same-same on pigmented lips.

These swatches show just how thick the texture is!

AUSTRALIS Show Stopper Gloss Sticks – Fairy Floss, Hoola Hoop, Fireworks

Brand: Australis
Range: Show Stopper Gloss Sticks
Shades: Fairy Floss, Hoola Hoop, Fireworks
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • High shine lip crayons that glide on smoothly with long lasting high impact pigment
  • Texture glides more smoothly & is less sticky than Nars Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil.
  • Available in 3 shades: Fairy Floss (Creamy Light Pink), Hoola Hoop (Sheer Bright Red), Fireworks (Shimmery Deep Magenta Red)
  • Hoola Hoop was the most versatile shade of them all – looks red coral when worn as a stain & bright red when layered on.   The others only looked great with full coverage.
  • As these are standard pencils, they need sharpening with a jumbo pencil sharpener.
  • Verdict: When deciding between these and Eyeko Liptastik Glossy Lip Pens, it really boils down to shade & texture.   For a creamy red, I’d go for Eyeko’s “Lip Lover”, whereas Australis “Hoola Hoop” is great for a glossy red coral stain.
  • As these swatch so differently on lips compared to arm, I recommend testing these on your lips if possible to see how it blends with your lip tone.
(L-R): Fairy Floss, Hoola Hoop, Fireworks

No lip balm or primer worn.

  • It’s not everyday I get impressed by drug-store brand lipsticks, but I have to applaud Australis for creating an outstanding treatment lipstick for only $12.95 AUD.
  • Very moisturising lipstick with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, UV filters & lip defining peptides.
  • Its collagen stimulating formula is derived from Vitamin C-rich Kakadu,
  • Comes in 18 shades in both cream and shimmery finishes & 2 limited edition shades.
  • I’m just nit-picking when I say that my only criticism is that the taste could be improved for such a vitamin rich formula.  It already tastes better than most drugstore lipsticks, but it’s one step way from cake-scented Maybelline lipsticks
  • Verdict: Definitely worth checking out at your local Priceline! Jitterbug was definitely a stand out shade for its juicy red finish.
