Brand: Illamasqua
Range: Lipstick
Shade: Kontrol
Swatched by the lovely: Bluebell

  • Kontrol is a striking deep blue violet launched as part of Illamasqua’s Theatre of the Nameless Collection, inspired by a heady mix of opulence & decadence.
  • Bluebell describes the texture has highly opaque and creamy, and the shade is more experimental than for everyday.
  • On Bluebell’s lip swatch (NC10) the blue hues show really well, where as on my lips (NC20) the violet hues are more evident.  Click here to view my swatch of this shade
  • Thanks Bluebell for the swatch!

Shade: Facade
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Facade is described as a “grey pink” shade, launched as part of Illamasqua’s Nameless Collection, inspired by a heady mix of opulence & decadence.
  • Intense Lipglosses are really thick in texture (but not sticky), pigmented with high coverage.
  • Less is more with this lipgloss.  Start with a small amount & blend evenly with the slanted applicator (you’ll be surprised by how much coverage you get with just a small amount).
  • Tip: Once you’ve filled in the main area of the lips, don’t apply any more gloss directly on lips.  Squeeze a small amount on the back of your hand & apply the finishing touches along the lip line using the tip of the applicator.
  • Verdict: The taupe lip trend from last year seems to have made its way back via Illamasqua. If you’re loving the taupe lip but find this too grey, try MAC Tinted Lipglass in “Chai”  or  NYX Round Lipstick in “Perfect Taupe”,  Or for matchy matchy lips & nails, pair this with a mushroom nail polish shade like Mecca Cosmetica “Maria”, Barry M “Mushroom” or Chanel “Paticuliere”!

  • Kontrol is a striking deep blue violet launched as part of Illamasqua’s Theatre of the Nameless Collection, inspired by a heady mix of opulence & decadence.
  • Creamy moisturising “non slip” finish that’s much more comfortable to wear than other matte shades.
  • When worn sheer, it has more of a blue tone which transforms into deep violet when layered on as I have done below.
  • Verdict: Although Kontrol is not for the faint hearted, I highly recommend Illamasqua as the go-to brand for deep lipstick shades (I’m talking deep wines, deep purples etc.) as those from many other brands tend to “slip” and looks patchy.  Patchy wine lips is not cool.  With Illamasqua lipsticks, you can guarantee even coverage that’s durable and doesn’t budge. Plus if you have a steady hand, you won’t even need a lip liner as it’s so pigmented.

Applied directly on lips – no lip balm.

I love how this striking shade compliments the plum eye and cheek makeup below.

Brand: Illamasqua
Range: Lipstick (Toxic Nature Collection)
Shade: Atomic
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Released as part of Illamasqua’s Toxic Nature Collection, Atomic is described as a “fuchsia violet” with a pearl finish.  It’s deeper than other fucshia shades I own which makes it wearable without looking shockingly pink.
  • Link love: Also check out Lipglossiping & Fables in Fashion’s swatches of the same shade.
  • Verdict: Personally I prefer a brighter fuchsia shade against my skin tone, but I love how the pearl finish adds a twist to a matte bold pink look.

Thin layer worn on top of Elizabeth Arden Advanced Lip Fix Cream.
