Brand: Lancome
Range: Rouge in Love
Shade: Midnight Rose 377
Swatched by the lovely: Vesna

  • Midnight Rose appears as a beautiful matte fuchsia on Vesna’s lips (which are blessed without needing any lip balm), and her skintone is NW15 with a pale lip tine.
  • To view this shade on my NC20 skintone with a flushed lip tone, click here
  • Vesna’s verdict on the Rouge in Love formula is that it lasted a minimum of 6 hours, faded gracefully without feathering and is non-drying.
  • Thanks Vesna for the lovely swatch!

Brand: Lancome
Range: Color Design Lipstick
Shade: Ooh La La! (Metallic)
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Believe it or not, this is my first Lancome Color Design Lipstick and I’m really impressed by its moisturising full coverage formula that has great ‘grip’ and an emollient finish that revives a flat looking pout.
  • Infused with soothing ingredients, it feels soft, sits comfortably on lips and the rich pigments are transfer-resistant meaning it will last well throughout the day.
  • Ooh La La! is described as a “metallic raspberry golden rose”.
  • Available in cream, sheen, shimmer, metallic and matte.
  • Verdict: It only took one application to achieve full coverage, and the raspberry tones blended seamlessly with my flushed lip tone and faded gracefully through the day.  It looks bronze in the bullet, but the raspberry tones become more apparent once it sets on lips.  Normally I’m not a fan of metallic finishes, but this adds a lustruous dimension without making lips look aged. I recommend Ooh La La for very pigmented lips or medium/dark skin tones.

I got this as part of a Gift with Purchase, but it’s avaliable on Lancome counters.

  • Please welcome my FOURTH shade from the Rouge in Love range, Midnight Rose
  • I chose Midnight Rose as it is unlike any other shade I own, a sophisticated fuchsia pink with a magenta twist.  Plus I was told it was the top selling shade at Lancome Australia’s Myer counter in Melbourne.
  • What drove me to own 4 shades of Rouge in Love (3 out of which were purchased) is the fusion of a featherlight texture and long-wearing pigment that stays vibrant even hours later. It also melts on application, giving lips long lasting moisture and a juicy shine.
  • Available in 21 shades, the collection is categorised into three groups Jolis Matins (fresh shades for daytime wear), Boudoir Time (pop shades for cocktail hour), and Tonight is My Night (deep shades for night wear) to make it easier to decide on a shade.
  • Other shades I’ve swatched: #340 “Rose Boudoir”, #163 “Dans ses Bras”, and #159 “Rouge in Love”.
  • Verdict: I highly recommend it to bold lippy lovers for 3 reasons – (1) It’s a unique twist to the shades people normally expect with a statement lip.  (2) It looks flattering on both fair and warm skin tones (as seen on both Molly & Jess “Miss Shopaholic”), and (3) Great for those who are shy about a fuchsia pink lip and need a sophisticated shade to pull it off.   With 4 shades now under my belt I feel content, especially ending on a high with Midnight Rose.  I wonder which lipstick range will be the next that I start my next collection on…

  • Please welcome my THIRD shade from the Rouge in Love range, Rose Boudoir – a bright rosy pink.
  • Rose Boudoir is to rose/pink, just as Coral is to orange.  On its own, the vibrancy of this shade ventures into the territory of “pink coral”, but add brown smokey eyes and the rosiness comes alive.
  • Even with 3 shades under my belt, I’m still not quite done with this collection yet, due to the fusion of a featherlight texture, and long-wearing pigment that stays vibrant even hours later.
  • Other shades I’ve swatched: #163 “Dans ses Bras”, and #159 “Rouge in Love”.
  • Verdict:  Just you watch, it’s only a matter of time before I come back again with my next lust-have shade #391 “Fiery Attitude”

The brightness of this shade only seems to be brought out on my lips, not so much on my arm.

RRP: $45 AUD / $26 USD

  • Quite often I will buy lipsticks for the sake of swatching, but every now and again I can’t resist the urge to tick off a lippie or two on my lust list.  And that is shade #159B from Lancome Rouge in Love.
  • The reason I love this range so much that I’ve bought several shades (and I can easily feel more coming), is that it’s a fusion of a featherlight texture, and long-wearing pigment that stays vibrant even hours layer.
  • 159B Rouge in Love is a vibrant red that looks red coral when muted, and when layered on it builds into a bright red that’s lighter than a classic red.
  • Other shades in the range: I also swatched shade #163 “Dans ses Bras”, and recently purchased shade #340 “Rose Boudoir” – stay tuned for the swatch coming soon.
  • Verdict: With 3 shades now in my hands, I am feeling the itch to try the plummy shades such as #391 “Fiery Attitude”

When swatched over Maybelline Baby Lips, the muted finish looks coral red on me. But when applied on dry lips, the red is intensified into a really bright red.
