Brand: Shu Uemura
Range: Rouge Unlimited (Holiday Collection by Wong Kar Wai)
Shade: Pink Flush (Limited Edition)
Swatched by yourstruly: akisa

  • Shu Uemura has collaborated with acclaimed Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar Wai for this year’s holiday collection
  • The poetic, dreamy and nostalgic theme of this collection is captured in Wong Kar Wai’s film Mask, an exclusive short film created for the collection
  • The lipsticks in the collection are inspired by the glimmer of the festive season, featuring 3 shades – Rouge Lustre, Pink Flush & Glitter Fuse.
  • High in shine and moisture, this lipstick is incredibly lightweight, as with all Shu Uemura lipsticks.
  • Pink Flush is a light neutral pink with subtle golden shimmers, and gives that “milky translucent look” without actually being a cream texture.
  • Verdict: Pale lipstick can look trashy if the texture is too creamy and opaque. What I love about Pink Flush is that it’s a more elegant take on the pale lip and the neutral pink makes this suitable for pink & yellow skintones. Even with direct application it isn’t too streaky on medium toned lips, but for a perfect finish I recommend concealing lips for a flawless finish.

Swatched directly with no lip balm

Range: Rouge Unlimited Supreme Shine
Shade: PK 340

  • Described as a “fusion of breakthrough watery dewy shine and rich colour pay-off”
  • Really comfortable on lips, super charged with moisture and glides really smoothly
  • Just the right amount of pigment and blends seamlessly over your lip surface
  • Available in 22 shades, in pearls, shimmers and glitter finishes
  • PK 340 is a rose with subtle golden shimmers – the muted rose shade I have been searching for high and low!
  • I previously reviewed shade BR 760 here.
  • Compared to Dior’s latest Addict lipstick formula, this is far more pigmented, more moisturising and equally shiny
  • Verdict: This lipstick range is my current Holy Grail creamy lipstick formula as it’s lightweight, glides over even the driest lips to add moisture and wet shine.  Plus the high quality formula means there are no patches when it wears off, unlike other creamy lipsticks that “grip” onto lip surfaces that gets dry over time.

I purchased this product with my own money.

  • Verdict: RUN, don’t walk!  This is a Holy Grail lipstick formula in my opinion.  Personally I’m loving this more than Dior Addict as I still prefer pigmented over translucent.

Applied on top of Kiehl’s Double Strength Deep Wrinkle Filler.

SHU UEMURA Rouge Unlimited Lipstick – PK312

Brand: Shu Uemura
Range: Rouge Unlimited Lipstick
Shade: PK312
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • After swatching shade PK343 (which was blue toned pink) I was curious to try a yellow toned pink lipstick from the Rouge Unlimited range & bought PK312 online.
  • It turned out to be ultra sheer.  The yellow tones made it easier to blend on my lips, but I seem to have little luck with Rouge Unlimited formulas as it has minimal smoothing or hydrating properties & doesn’t look good unless my lips are perfectly smooth.
  • Verdict: PK312 gives a sheer take on “my lips but better” look, which I recommend for those with minimal lip lines.

I bought this with my own money.

SHU UEMURA Rouge Unlimited Lipstick – PK343

  • PK343 is a cool toned blue-pink available as part of the Spring 2011 Morphorium Collection.
  • Sheer & semi pigmented lipstick that blends into lips but lets your natural lip tone show through.
  • Semi moisturising & glides smoothly, but doesn’t disguise chapped lips
  • Verdict: I love sheer lipsticks any time of year, but especially so during Spring/Summer as it’s more comfortable to wear and complements lighter makeup in the warmer months.  If you prefer more coverage, you could always line your lips first in a pink/flesh toned lip liner.
  • Tip: Sheer pink lipsticks are also useful as an ‘accent colour’ when layering lip colours.
