MIRENESSE Lip Bomb “Candy Collection” – Review, Photos, Swatches

Brand: Mirenesse
Range: Lip Bomb “Candy Collection”
Shades: 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Further to the lip bombs I swatched previously, Mirenesse have released have released 6 new shades as part of their Candy Collection.
  • Lip Bombs are a unique glossy lacquer stain that coat lips with amplified colour with a juicy high shine lacquer finish.
  • What I love about the unique applicator (close up pic here) is that you only need one coat for a high impact finish as the flat tip of the wand helps evenly smooth the lacquer over the lips.
  • You can also customise the colours by adding a touch of gold or white to lighten up the shades.
  • Verdict: Whilst my last set of swatches featured hot pinks and reds, this time there’s a cinammon red, coral and raspberry red and a shimmery fuschia – which in my opinion takes the cake from the Candy Collection.

PALMER’S Cocoa Butter Formula Dark Chocolate & Cherry Lip Balm SPF 15 – Review, Photos, Swatches

  • A whiff of this lip balm & I’m instantly reminded of Cherry Ripe, Australia’s oldest chocolate bar that has cherries and coconut coated in dark chocolate.
  • It’s not only deliciously scented, but also contains anti-oxidants and SPF 15 for sun protection.
  • The silky texture is thanks to dimethicone (a silicone-based polymer) which leaves lips with a diffused finish, but it doesn’t smooth lip lines.
  • I did try to swatch this on my arm, but it only left a subtle dark cherry stain so I skipped photographing it.
  • Verdict:  The subtle “dark chocolate cherry” tint on the lips will appeal to those with darker lips, as there are not that many lip tints out there with such a shade. Despite the “ultra moisturising claims” it’s lightweight in moisture for my lip condition, making this product better suited to younger lips or those who live in more humid climates.

ESTEE LAUDER Bronze Goddess Summer 1

Estee Lauder’s 2014 Bronze Goddess Summer Collection is inspired by the exotic Caribbean paradise embodied by golden sands and palm trees. The Pure Color Five Color Eyeshadow Palette in Batik Sun is a limited edition palette of brilliant green, gold and nude shades.

ESTEE LAUDER Bronze Goddess Summer 6

My favourite product from the collection is the Pure Color Illuminating Powder Gelée in Heat Wave, a highly pearlised golden illuminating powder with a creamy textuere that makes it easy to blend on the skin for a luxurious holiday glow.

ESTEE LAUDER Bronze Goddess Summer 4b

ESTEE LAUDER Bronze Goddess Summer 6b To intensify the eyes, the Pure Color Liquid Eyeliner Duo in Black Sands features a dual ended felt tip in black and bronze to add definition and add extra smoulder to the summer look.

The felt tip is soft and moderate in flexibility, making it easy to draw clean lines and flicks.  The formula is very wet and takes around a minute to set and becomes budge proof.  I recommend tight lining with a eyeliner pencil first, so that the wet formula is focused on creating a precise edge.

Lastly, the Pure Color Long Lasting Lipstick in new limited edition shades – Solar Crush and Fuschia Fever - feature vibrant pink and tangerine tones.  The formula is long lasting with intense pigmentation that fades gracefully as the day wears on.

BILLIE GOAT SOAP Lip Balm – Review, Photos, Swatches

Brand: Billie Goat Soap
Range: Lip Balm
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Billie Goat Soap is famous for their goat milk products (soaps, body wash, moisturisers) formulated for sensitive skin especially for babies.
  • Having tried their soaps and moisturisers previously, I was intrigued to try their lip balm range when I saw it at the pharmacy as it’s made from Australian goats milk and skin loving oils.
  • To my surprise, it wasn’t milky in appearance, rather it was a clear balm that includes ingredients like natural emollients, triglycerides, coconut oil, jojoba oil, cocoa seed buter, beeswax and Vitamins C, B1, B6, B12 and E.
  • It melts really quickly and the oils leaves lips with a high gloss clear shine.
  • Available in 3 flavours – Natural, Peach and Pear & Mango.  No parabens, SLS, fragrance, colour and not tested on animals.
  • Verdict: It’s with mixed emotions that I give this a thumbs down. Whilst it does mositurise lips, I felt the formula is too oily / emollient and not well balanced making it absorb so quickly that my lips are left bare once absorbed.  If you’re in the market for a completely natural lip balm, I’d recommend Lanolips 101 Ointment over this one.

  • Clarins Hydra Quench Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm is a rich, protective treatment balm that contains shea butter, wild mango and Vitamin E, olive extract, and rice oil plus a lip plumping complex.
  • My dehydrated lips immediately feel softened, plumped with moisture and protected by a rich salve barrier.
  • Leaves lips with a glossy finish. It supposedly leaves a healthy flush but since my lips are naturally flushed I didn’t notice any difference.
  • The slanted tip makes it easy to apply hygienically on the go.
  • Verdict: There are only a few lip balms that do such a fabulous job of moisturising to the extent that they melt my lip flakes, and this is one of them.  Any lip sins I’ve committed during the week are all forgiven with a full day’s application of this lip balm. I have it permanently in my weekend bag and have gotten so hooked on this lip balm that I have stopped applying lip colour!!
