DIOR Jelly Lip Pen – Copacabana #516 Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Brand: Dior
Range: Jelly Lip Pen
Shade: Copacabana #516
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Dior Jelly Lip Pens were launched as part of the Birds of Paradise Summer 2013 limited edition collection.
  • They’re described as a “colour and shine jelly balm” and give a sheer glossy veil of moisture that’s lightweight and perfect for summer.
  • The jumbo pencil is a wind-up applicator, great for quick slicks on the go without needing to be sharpened.
  • Whilst it claims to contain the pigment of a lipstick, I’d say that it’s more like the pigment of a sheer lipstick.
  • The shade I received – Copacabana – was a sheer translucent nude beige that adds warmth to your lip tone with super fine shimmers that draw light to your lips.
  • The texture is buttery smooth, and has a similar jelly texture as the new Dior Addict Be Iconic lipsticks that keeps lips hydrated.
  • Compared to Clinique Chubby Stick in “Heaping Hazelnut”, “Copacabana” is similar in shade, perhaps slightly sheerer but delivers longer lasting moisture.
  • Available in 4 shades – you can check out the other shades at Paris B’s review at her blog My Women Stuff.
  • Verdict: Dior’s Jelly Lip Pen will appeal to those that like their lips dressed in a shimmery veil of moisture with a hint of colour.  Personally I like a bit more colour on the lips & prefer the popsicle finish of Dior Addict Be Iconic Lipsticks.

Applied without any lip balm.

CLINIQUE Chubby Stick Intense – Heftiest Hibiscus – Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Brand: Clinique
Range: Chubby Stick Intense Moisturising Lip Colour Balm
Shade: Heftiest Hibiscus
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Clinique has taken their #1 selling lip product up a notch & introduced Chubby Stick Intense – a fuller lip coverage formula with more intense colour pay-off
  • Described as “the perfect marriage between a moisturising lip balm and a full coverage lip colour”, lips are pampered with a cocktail of lip conditioning ingredients (Shea Butter, Mango Seed Butter, Jojoba Seed Oil).
  • Available in 8 new shades – Curviest Caramel, Chunkiest Chilli, Heftiest Hibiscus, Mightiest Maraschino, Plushest Punch, Roomiest Rose, Broadest Berry and Grandest Grape.
  • Heftiest Hibiscus is a tangerine that would suit warmer skin tones.
  • The buttery finish makes it wear off quickly with eating/drinking, but touching up is a breeze with the wind-up crayon applicator.
  • Verdict: I have been waiting forever to get my paws on these ever since I saw them released overseas!  The regular Chubby Sticks are great for a “pick me up” wash of colour, but I have been layering them with lip pencils to get a deeper finish.  With Chubby Stick Intense, I can now leave my lip pencils and lip brushes at home.  Heftiest Hibiscus is a bit too orange for me,  so I have my eyes on Mightiest Maraschino and Curviest Caramel as seen on my {Which Lippy} Lip Tee post.

FACE OF AUSTRALIA Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons

Brand: Face of Australia
Range: Sheer Gloss Lip Crayon
Shades: Macaron, Cupcake & Sundae
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Face of Australia is the latest brand to come out with lip crayons,  making their mark with a set of 3 shades for an incredibly affordable price of $14.95 AUD
  • Comes in Macaron (raspberry), Cupcake (milky pink), and Sundae (brown).  All infused with a subtle vanilla scent.
  • Glides on smoothly, coating lips with an incredibly moisturising and lightweight flush of colour.
  • Convenient wind-up applicator – no sharpening needed.
  • Although Macaron is my favourite shade of them all, I’m also impressed with Cupcake for being able to coat my flushed lips with a milky pink tint without any streaks. The great thing about Sundae is that the sheerness of the brown blends with the pink in your lips for your own customised pink-brown shade.
  • Verdict: The thing about lip crayons is that either the shade doesn’t pull my heart strings, or the finish is not moistuirising enough. What I love about Face of Australia’s lip crayons is firstly how moisturising it is & smooths my lip lines like they never existed.  And I absolutely love Macaron, the gorgeous raspberry shade is worth purchasing the whole set for!

RRP: $14.95 AUD for a set of 3

Available at Priceline, Kmart, Big W and selected pharmacies Australia wide.
