  • Katherine describes “Buff” as a muted rose beige that has no shimmers, giving a healthy natural MLBB effect.

Brand: Avon
Range: Ultra Glazewear Lip Gloss
Shades: Fiery Red, Mauve Movement, Pink Watermelon, Nude, Tangerine Gleam, Intense Plum, Nude Muse, Tickled Pink
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Avon Ultra Glazewear Lip Glosses are a moisturising gloss that has a soft texture that doesn’t feel sticky or tacky.
  • Sculpts lips into a high shine lacquer finish won’t feather or bleed
  • Available in 9 shades – 8 of which are featured here, and the other shade is Clear (not pictured).
  • Very mild scent that reminds me of cupcakes.
  • Verdict: Some shades are sheerer than others, with the most pigmented ones being Intense Plum, Fiery Red and Tangerine Plum.  My favourites are Mauve Movement (a mauve MLBB shade) and Pink Watermelon (sheer pink with shimmers).  For just $14.99 these are very reasonably priced for their quality, and are versatile to be worn both on their own or layered over lipstick for a dimensional finish.

TOM FORD Lip Lacquer – Pink Lust – Review, Photos, Swatches

Brand: Tom Ford
Range: Lip Lacquer
Shade: Pink Lust (limited edition)

  • The 2013 Summer Collection features shades that make skin look like they’re bathed in sunset light with a sultry and sublime glow, with delicate pearl tones of pink, nude and peach.
  • Pink Lust is a light pink enriched with golden pearls that can be worn on its own (for a sheer pink golden veil), or layered over pink beige or nude lipsticks for a sensual sheen.
  • Despite being labelled as a “lip lacquer”, the texture is very lightweight, smooth and non-sticky.
  • Verdict: This is my second Tom Ford Lip Lacquer, and I much prefer the pink tones in this compared to the pure gold one I received last Spring, as it’s more versatile and looks more natural than a golden shimmer.  This lip lacquer is definitely for the nude lipstick aficionados.  For the same price, I’d rather go for Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip Glosses as they’re much more pigmented and better suited to wearing on their own.

CHANEL Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss – Controversy 722 – Review, Photos, Swatches

Brand: Chanel
Range: Rouge Allure Extrait de Gloss
Shade: Controversy 722
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Inspired by the iconic lipstick Rouge Allure, the Extrait de Gloss combines a smooth, silky gel texture with bold colour for a luxurious dramatic effect.
  • Despite being very pigmented, the formula is neither sticky nor tacky, and leaves lips feeling comfortable and sensuous for hours.
  • I find that one pump is enough for the entire lips, and rubbing my lips together helps to spread the gloss evenly into the lip creases.
  • Tip: Use the long edge of the wand to spread the gloss along your lip line, then use the rounded corner of the wand to define your cupids bow.
  • Controversy is described as a “brown plum” and has a vampy edge to it.
  • What sets this apart from other pigmented glosses is that it’s not only long lasting, but even after drinking it leaves a soft stain behind, giving your lips a flush of colour from the undertones.  For me, the flush of colour that remained was a rhubarb MLBB shade.
  • Verdict: The brown tones in this vampy gloss will appeal to those who have warm skin tones, or want to create a chocolate toned autumn look.CHANEL Rouge Allure Extrait De Gloss - Controversy 72 Reviews Photos Swatch

Brand: Estee Lauder
Range: Pure Color Sheer Rush Lipshine & Gloss
Shade: Poppy Shock
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Estee Lauder Pure Color Cello Shots collection is a playful collection of shots of cellophane-sheer gel colour for lips and cheeks.
  • The textures in the collection feature soft gels, and water-light finishes for a subtle glow of fresh vibrant colour.
  • The Lipshines are packaged in a shade-matched slim-line lipstick case with a slant tip for easy application.  Each shade is paired with a Gloss in the same shade that gives lips a high shine gel finish that provides a cushion-like feel on lips.
  • I got to try Poppy Shock – a vibrant coral that’s amplified when you combine the Lipshine & Gloss together.   On its own, the Lipshine is a lovely tint of colour that’s the equivalent of cream blush for lips.
  • Verdict: Whenever Estee Lauder releases lip shades with a matching gloss, I always know that the combination of the two delivers a stunning finish. The Pure Color Cello Shots collection is no exception, with the Lipshine & Gloss delivering that “cellophane” effect that brings it all together. Poppy Shock looks best on warmer skin tones,
