Brand: Revlon
Range: ColorBurst Lip Butter
Shades: Fig Jam, Candy Apple, Cotton Candy, Berry Smoothie, Sugar Plum, Créme Brulee
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Say goodbye to dull, dry lips with Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters, the most highly raved lipstick on the internet, with bloggers & Youtubers in a craze over the buttery smooth, hydrating balmy texture of this sheer lipstick.
  • Available in 20 “mouth watering” shades, these contain a combination of Mango, Shea and Coconut Butters to soothe lips naturally
  • Sheer when applied directly from the tube, but buildable to medium(ish) coverage if applied with a lip brush.  Finish is juicy & high in shine.
  • Naturally scented with vanilla
  • Disguises dry and tired lips, transforming them into a juicy pout.
  • Verdict: A really versatile lipstick that can be worn sheer (by applying directly from the tube) or layered on for extra coverage by applying with a lip brush for a polished look. My lips stay moisturised for several hours & it fades into a natural tint.  I recommend going for the more vibrant shades in the collection seeing as they are so buildable.

I used a lip brush to apply a generous amount for a pigmented swatch.  No lip balm.

When applied directly from the tube, the finish is as per the arm swatch below.

CLINIQUE Long Last Lipstick – Runway Coral (LE)

Brand: Clinique
Range: Long Last Lipstick
Shade: Runway Coral
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Runway Coral is a limited edition online exclusive shade, which made its debut in New York Fashion Week on the runways at Karen Walker’s Spring 2012 Show.
  • Created by Clinique’s Global Color artist Jenna Mennard, the bold coral shade was paired with peachy cheeks and neutral eyes with flirty lashes.
  • It looks like a true coral in the tube, but transforms into a pink coral on my lip tone.
  • Texture is creamy-matte with moderate traction which requires exfoliation beforehand & lip balm for a smoother creamy finish.
  • Tip: Creamy-matte lip formulas are best applied with a natural fibre lip brush to make sure the lipstick grips onto every single crease on your lip.
  • Verdict: I love how this spring coral shade brightens up my face! Perfect pink coral shades don’t come by often, grab this limited edition shade before you regret it.

CK ONE COLOR Pure Color Lipstick – Dollface & Bite Me

Brand: ck one color
Range: Pure Color Lipstick
Shades: Dollface, Bite Me
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • With over 136 products in the ck one color range, products are defined into 3 unique segments – Look Real, Define Yourself, and Add Intensity instead of the traditional categories of face, eye, lip and nail.
  • Available in 20 shades, Dollface is a rose pink and Bite Me is a fire engine red.
  • Luminous, saturated colour that glides on silky smooth without drying lips.
  • The packaging is half matte black (similar to Nars packaging) and half glossy white.
  • Verdict: I am loving Calvin Klein’s come-back with the improved lipstick formula that’s creamy yet lightweight, with a more moisturising creamy sheen than the original Calvin Klein lipstick formulas (I used to own a deep plum shade in 2001!)  As much as I love monochrome, black/white lipstick packaging doesn’t really pull my heart strings. But for the excellent quality for its price, I have my eye on the rest of the shades – especially the gorgeous fuchsias, nudes, violets and plums.

VIOLENT LIPS – Red Glitterati, The Leopard & Australian Flag

Brand: Violent Lips
Range: Temporary Lip Appliqués
Shades: Red Glitterati, The Leopard, Australian Flag
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • The ultimate form of self-expression, the Violent Lips Collection offers a statement-making line of lip patterns that range from bold animal prints and fun polka dots, to sexy fishnets and picture-perfect Glitterati sparkle”.
  • Lasts for 4 to 8 hours if applied correctly. Vitamin enhanced to give a smooth feel and glossy finish.
  • Customizable to fit lips of all shapes and sizes. Visit www.violentlips.com for a video tutorial on how to apply this to your lips.
  • Does not stain lips & best of all, the Red Glitterati didn’t leave any stray glitters behind.
  • Application Tips: Work on one lip at a time, trim as close as possible to the visible lip surface area, and press the adhesive part firmly especially to the corners of your mouth to avoid the sticker lifting.  To remove, apply generous amount of baby oil & leave it for at 60-90 seconds, removing it with wet wipes or makeup remover wipes.  For stubborn left-over bits, I used a lip scrub but you can also try Ponikuta‘s tip of using her electronic toothbrush. Take special care around the corners of the lips to make sure the tattoo binds to your lip corners to avoid “lifting” on the corners.
  • Verdict: I did experience a little cracking, which is expected when you add a tightly textured tattoo with lips prone to stretching.  But overall, it was a bit of fun and surprisingly easy to apply.  With patience (plus following instructions) the tattoo removes relatively easily.

(L-R): The Leopard, Australian Flag, Red Glitterati
I experimented with the width on Red Glitterati & it didn’t work so well, creating a “curtain” on the insides of my top lip.
Best to trim exactly along the visible areas of your lip surface.
The textures were also slightly different for each pattern. The flag was the thinnest, and Red Glitterati was the thickest.

ROUGE BUNNY ROUGE Colour Burst Lipstick – Hues of Enchantment – Prey of Lust

Brand: Rouge Bunny Rouge
Range: Colour Burst Lipstick (Hues of Enchantment)
Shade: Prey of Lust
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  •  Rouge Bunny Rouge cosmetics inspired by the romantic, opulent and whimsical, yet centered on wearable, blendable and adaptable formulas.
  • Easy to glide, hydrating and feels so soft and creamy.
  • No streaking, sits comfortably and evenly on the lip surface, with lip loving ingredients such as Vitamin E to nourish and protect from dryness and ageing.
  • The range consists of 3 separate formulas to give you slightly different texture, coverage and finish.  All are infused with Orchid Flower Extract, Meadowfoam, Manoi Butter or Inca Inch oil.
  • Prey of Lust is a light beige, a more natural alternative to ultra nude lips that won’t wash you out.
  • Verdict: This has got to be one of my favourite creamy lipsticks & also hits my soft spot for caramel hues!  I love the texture more than the hyped up Suqqu Creamy Glow lipsticks, as it is more moisturising & softens lips without streaking over lip lines. Highly recommended.
