I recently blogged about my favourite iPhone photo editings apps over at my photography site – yishanchan.com.au
Head over and find out my favourite apps for filters, fonts and erasing wrinkles to achieve baby smooth skin.
See you there!
Last night I attended a beauty event at The Langham Melbourne, where Vogue Australia‘s Beauty & Health Director Sigourney Cantelo presented Mecca Cosmetica‘s Spring & Summer range with Head of Artistry, Tony Baumann. Together they presented 4 key trends and how to de-mystify them so you can achieve the looks of this season.
1. Polished, 3D Skin. Radiant & Contoured.
2. The Statement Lip. Bold Confident Colour.
3. Contoured Eyes. Soft Elongated & Elegant.
4. Foiled Eyes. Modern Metallics. (“The grown alternative to glitter” – Sigourney Cantelo)
(1) that pressed powder is not meant for setting makeup, and is only for touching up throughout the day. Makeup should only be set with loose powder!
(2) when applying makeup for a special occasion, skip moisturiser and use only a serum and primer before foundation for longer lasting results.
The guest list was a mix of a handful of bloggers and majority were fans of Vogue & Mecca Cosmetica.
We got to take home a complimentary copy of the October 2013 issue of Vogue Australia and a goodie bag from Mecca Cosmetica. The nail polish comes with this month’s issue of Vogue.
In the lead up to the Spring Racing season, The Langham Melbourne will be hosting Spring Racing Vogue High Teas featuring desserts that showcase the vibrant colours of this season’s fashion.
Guests can indulge with a flute of Domaine Chandon NV Brut on arrival with Classic Tiffin Tea dishes including very vanilla cupcakes, chocolate macarons, fluffy scones and ribbon sandwiches. And also enjoy a copy of Vogue
Monday – Friday 21 October – 8 November 10:30am – 4:30pm $65 per person
For booking visit here.

Last month when I got back from Problogger Event, I hinted that I was about to embark on my new chapter and that it would mean scaling back on Beauty Swatch to the things that inspired me to launch the site in the beginning.
And I received barely a comment from you all!
My new site is still in its infancy stage, so please bear with me while I slowly customise the design.
The new site will be more personal & more related to my interest in photography and graphic design. One of the tutorials I’m currently working on is a guide to beauty blogging photography, since so many of you have asked me questions about how I photograph swatches and achieve the results I do with a point-and-shoot camera. Please let me know if there’s any topics you’d like me to cover!
I hope you will join me at yishanchan.com.au as I embark on my new blogging adventure!
October marks the Breast Cancer Awareness month, founded by The National Breast Cancer Foundation, the leading community-funded organisation in Australia raising money for research into the prevention and care of breast cancer.
Since the National Breast Cancer Foundation was established in 1994, $97 million has been awarded to fund over 340 Australian-based research projects across every state and territory to improve the health and wellbeing of those affected by breast cancer. Their aspirational goal is to achieve zero death from breast cancer by 2030. With 37 Australians diagnosed each day and seven losing their battle, there is still much to do.
To help raise awareness and funds for Breast Cancer Awareness month, look out for these beauty products on counters from October.
Clinique has developed a limited edition exclusive shade of the iconic Almost Lipstick in a pink colour: Pink Ribbon Honey, housed in a pink cosmetic pouch. $5 will go towards The National Breast Cancer Foundation. Click here to view my review of the Almost Honey lipstick range. RRP: $36 AUD (1.9g).
$20 from the sale of each limited edition blush set will go towards the Breast Cancer Foundation. Bobbi Brown’s signature blush technique is to use 2 shades of pink, a base colour that’s the same as the natural flush in your cheeks, followed by a pop of colour on your apples. Try it on counter to see if it’s your flush or pop blush colour! RRP: $85 AUD
The set includes two shades of nail polish, More than a Glimmer, and Pink-ing of You and includes ten pink ribbon stick-on decals and crystals. OPI, a Gold Partner of the National Breast Cancer Foundation has been supporting the Foundation for eight years raising more than $200,000 in funds through the sale of the OPI Pink Ribbon limited edition lacquers. RRP: $24.95.
In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Clinique offers a special, jumbo-sized bottle of its best-selling, cult classic Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion+ with a Clinique key ring with “C” shaped charm. The new and improved formula is silkier and more hydrating, ideal for those with normal/combination skin that keeps skin soft and hydrated without any residue. The previous formula was a staple during my university years. RRP: $75.00 (200ml). $10.00 from every sale of this limited edition bottle will benefit The National Breast Cancer Foundation.
O&M is proudly supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s research program with $1 per Original Queenie sale during October. Original Queenie is a firm but flexible hairspray that’s great for holding brushed out curls without any flaky or sticky residue. Contains Australian native actives such as Lilly Pilly which extends hold by reducing unwanted oil, while Quandong adds weightless protection to nourish the hair. RRP: $31.95 AUD (328ml).
Only the product marked with asterisk was provided for consideration.
