MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme – Red Dwarf

Brand: MAC
Range: Pro Longwear Lipcreme
Shade: Red Dwarf (Daphne Guiness Colleciton)
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Launched as part of the Daphne Guiness Collection, Red Dwarf is described as a “blue pink” but in my books it’s a blue toned berry shade.
  • The opaque long-wearing formula glides easily and grips onto lips without aggravating lip lines.
  • Fades gracefully into a berry stain without being drying.
  • Because of the long wearing formula & round/flat shape, I recommend using a lip brush to get a smooth even finish.
  • Verdict: Unlike Jen (My Funny Valentine) who can pull off ANY berry shade, there are only a few wine/berry shades that look good on me, and this is one of them.  Another reason I highly recommend this is that many berry/wine shades out there tend to have a lot of slip, sinking into lip lines and looks streaky and uneven.  Red Dwarf has none of that.

Applied with a lip brush over a thin layer of Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm.

Brand: Jane Iredale
Range
: Lip Fixation
Shade
: Fascination
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Jane Iredale Lip Fixation is a double ended lipgloss, combining a lip stain with a shimmery high shine gloss.
  • The lip stain is long lasting enough to last through meals (and stain my arm after swatching). The gloss is lightweight and non-sticky.
  • Contains lip soothing & plumping botanical ingredients & gives buildable coverage without feathering or drying.
  • Available in 9 shades – Craving, Desire, Fascination, Fetish, Devotion, Rapture, Mania, Passion, Relish
  • Fascination is a berry stain that really pops once you apply a top coat of shimmery gloss
  • Verdict: The finish is elegant, with subtle shimmers and boasts a long lasting stain. Although the price is steep, the sophisticated finish of this gloss makes this one of my top recommended lip products in the mineral makeup category.

The doe wand gives steadier control over the lip stain, whereas the brush wand gives quick application of a slick of layer gloss.

The lip stain on its own looks blah until the shimmer gloss transforms it into a shimmery glossy berry.

Apologies for the pink tones, my pale BB cream caused the auto-white balance to play up!

RRP: $56 AUD / $30 USD

Available at Adore Beauty (Australia) and the Jane Iredale website.

JANE IREDALE Chocoholicks Lip Palette

Brand: Jane Iredale
Range: Chocoholicks Lip Palette (Limited Edition)
Shades: Blood Orange, Espresso, Very Berry, Chilli Pepper
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • A limited edition lip palette compact with four chocolate-y shades for day and night, complete with a retractable gold lip brush
  • The texture of these glosses are hydrating, high shine and surprisingly pigmented and shimmery at the same time.
  • “Blood Orange” is a shimmery copper gloss with a dark chocolate flavour
  • “Espresso” is a sultry brown gloss with a rich aroma of mocha (why didn’t they just name it mocha?)
  • “Very Berry” is a plum gloss and tastes of luscious berries dipped in chocolate.
  • “Chilli Pepper” is a warm red gloss that transformed into a berry red on me!  Tastes like chilli chocolate, leaving lips a little tingly from the spices.
  • Verdict: A fun lip palette for chocolate lovers, but especially so if you love warm lip colours.  For the devoted plum lippie lover, the shade Very Berry alone is worth trying this palette out.  Trust me – this shade is one of a kind!
(L-R): Blood Orange, Espresso, Very Berry, Chilli Pepper
I was most impressed with Very Berry – it’s definitely one of a kind.
The closest dupe I can think of is by mixing MAC Lipstick in ‘Riveting Rose‘ and Lipglass ‘Indigo Pink‘ together.
RRP: $50 AUD
Available at Adore Beauty.

LANOLIPS Lip Ointment with Colour SPF 15 – Mulberry (LE)

Brand: Lanolips

  • Mulberry is a sheer berry tint that’s perfect for Christmas.  It’s so sheer you won’t have to worry about it smearing it on your teeth!
  • Contains over 60% medical grade Lanolin, vitamin E and natural oils.
  • Verdict: A stocking filler that’s guaranteed to please – be it friends, family or an office Kris Kringle.

Two thumbs up for a berry shade that blends seamlessly over lip lines.
