Brand: NVEY ECO
Range: Hydrating Lip Lustre
Shade: Ruby
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  •  NVEY ECO is an Australian organic makeup brand launched in 2005 that takes “green” cosmetics to the next level of perfection.
  • Free of parabens, petrochemicals or synthetic fragrances.  Not tested on animals & made in Australia.
  • Lip Lustres are lip lacquers that are rich in lustrous pigment and high in shine, and comes with an eco-friendly doe wand applicator (that’s unnecessarily long).
  • The texture glides incredibly smoothly & feels nourishing at the same time due to the organic beeswax.
  • There’s absolutely no stickiness, but there is a subtle organic taste which I’m ok with.
  • Available in 10 shades, Ruby is a metallic plum.
  • Verdict: Two thumbs up for a high performing organic lip gloss that manages to deliver on quality, comfort and a gorgeous shade all in one.  The metallic plum is simply divine & perfect for nights out or the festive season.

I’d be happier with the packaging if the lid wasn’t soooo loooong.

It’s not often I fall in love with plum or metallic shades, but there’s just something different about Ruby that screams appeal.

Swatches a little lumpy on my arm, but rest assured it goes on smoothly on lips.

RRP: $29.95 AUD
Available at the NVEY ECO website.

ILLAMASQUA Lipstick – Atomic

Brand: Illamasqua
Range: Lipstick (Toxic Nature Collection)
Shade: Atomic
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Released as part of Illamasqua’s Toxic Nature Collection, Atomic is described as a “fuchsia violet” with a pearl finish.  It’s deeper than other fucshia shades I own which makes it wearable without looking shockingly pink.
  • Link love: Also check out Lipglossiping & Fables in Fashion‘s swatches of the same shade.
  • Verdict: Personally I prefer a brighter fuchsia shade against my skin tone, but I love how the pearl finish adds a twist to a matte bold pink look.

Thin layer worn on top of Elizabeth Arden Advanced Lip Fix Cream.

Brand: MAC
Range: Lipglass
Shade: Blessedly Rich (Tartan Tale Collection – Glamourous Mineralize Kit)
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • This limited edition shade from MAC is by far my favourite bronze shade for lips of all time, as it’s a vibrant bronze unlike many others that mute your natural lip colour (which can look cold).
  • The shimmers are extremely fine, and with so many of them it almost looks metallic.
  • A statement yet complementary lip shade that won’t compete with bronzed eyes.
  • As with all MAC lipglasses, the texture is sticky and thick but the upside is that it’s long lasting and has a 3D sculpting effect.
  • This shade has also been swatched by Stef

It was love for me at first sight (both mirror & camera!).
What do you think of this shade?
High coverage yet lets your natural lip tone come through, so I imagine it might be wearable across a wide variety of lip tones.
This is from the ‘Glamourous Mineralize Kit’ from the Tartan Tale Collection.
