CK ONE shine lipstick – 120 rave, 400 rockin – Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Brand: ck one
Range: shine lipstick
Shades: 400 rockin, 120, rave
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

ck one shine lipstick: glossy.  hydrating.  vivid.

  • ck one shine lipstick combines the benefit of a lipgloss, lip balm and a lipstick into one.  It’s pigmented yet has a mild translucence with a glossy finish,
  • Very moisturising & softens parched tired lips into a smooth and firm juicy pout.
  • Available in 12 shades – I got to try rockin (plum) and rave (tea rose).
  • Verdict: Although I do like the ck one lipsticks in general for their price range, the shine lipstick range particularly impressed me, as even the trickiest of colours sit smoothly on my lips without sinking into my lip lines.  Apart from nudes, I often have trouble with tea rose & plum shades as they either emphasise lip creases / flakes or the pigment settles into lip lines.  Despite wearing lip balm underneath, there was absolutely no slippage or pigment settling into lines whatsoever.  Coverage was smooth & even with a translucent and flawless finish. Two thumbs up!

Swatched over a thin layer of Mecca Lip De-luscious SPF 25

MAYBELLINE NY Color Sensational High Shine Gloss

Brand: Maybelline
Range: NY Color Sensational High Shine Gloss
Shades: Almond Crush, Electric Shock, Plum Lustre, Iced Chocolate, Glisten Up Pink, Captivating Coral, Mirrored Mauve, One Shine Day, Gleaming Grenadine, Luminous Latte
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Give your lips a luminous look with finishes that range from molten glazes through to juicy sheens.
  • Wax free formula that glides incredibly smoothly, melting into lips coating them evenly without sinking into lines or sliding.
  • Despite being infused with Maybelline’s signature honey nectar ingredient, I find this collection features a strong scent of fruit chews (like Starbursts).
  • Available in 10 shades from petal pinks to eye popping coral.
  • Verdict: It’s not everyday that I’m impressed by a high street lip gloss range, but the smooth “lip hugging” formula has captivated me.  My favourite shades are Plum Luster (which I’m saving for Autumn), Electric Shock (cool pink that sits amazingly well even on my pigmented lips) and Iced Chocolate (creamy nude).

HOURGLASS Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick – Empress – Reviews, Photos, Swatches

HOURGLASS, Lips, LIPSTICK, NC20, Yishan | by — October 19, 2012

Brand: Hourglass
Range: Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick
Shade: Empress
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • A full-coverage liquid lipstick that’s richly pigmented & sets into a dry matte velvet finish.
  • Promises to deliver 14 hours of continuous wear without flaking or dryness, thanks to a blend of advanced polymers that deliver exceptional longevity.
  • The formula is very rich and glides on easily but dries very quickly so you have to keep a steady hand.  There’s no need to blot as it sets so quickly & it also doesn’t feather.
  • Whilst it contains skin-conditioning emollients, antioxidant fruit extracts, cili fruit, goji berry, and vitamins A, C and E, I wouldn’t describe it as moisturising .  The ultra matte texture requires a conditioned lip to start with, and whilst my lips stayed consistent throughout the day, it was on the dry side and clearly not as moisturising and softening as Guerlain L’Extrait.
  • It’s also transfer resistant, which means using a tissue only removes 30% of the lipstick (unlike Guerlain which can be easily wiped off with a tissue).
  • Fades gracefully over the course of the day, and the remainder of the lipstick is easily removable with a makeup remover, such as Bioderma Crealine H20.
  • Despite the packaging making it look as though it contains hardly any product, it contains 3 grams which is not far off from Hourglass lipstick (3.5 grams)
  • Empress is described as a deep aubergine shade.
  • Verdict: Hourglass was equally long lasting and pigmented as Guerlain, but not as moisturising and soft in texture due to the ultra matte finish.  The lack of shimmers also makes it more dramatic as a contrasting block colour matte lip.   Overall I still love it anyway, as it’s a gorgeous deep berry matte lip perfect for fall.
  • Link love: Also check out Glitter Geek’s swatch of shade Empress, it looks gorgeous against her warm skin tone.

The finish is more fabric-like compared to yesterday’s review of  Guerlain Rouge G de Guerlain L’Extrait.

My cupids bow isn’t symmetrical because the liquid lipstick set so quickly I didn’t have time to correct it!
There’s also no shimmers giving it a true matte finish.

I purchased this product.

REVLON ColorBurst Lip Butter – Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Brand: Revlon
Range: ColorBurst Lip Butter
Shades: Fig Jam, Candy Apple, Cotton Candy, Berry Smoothie, Sugar Plum, Créme Brulee
Swatched by yours truly: akisa

  • Say goodbye to dull, dry lips with Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters, the most highly raved lipstick on the internet, with bloggers & Youtubers in a craze over the buttery smooth, hydrating balmy texture of this sheer lipstick.
  • Available in 20 “mouth watering” shades, these contain a combination of Mango, Shea and Coconut Butters to soothe lips naturally
  • Sheer when applied directly from the tube, but buildable to medium(ish) coverage if applied with a lip brush.  Finish is juicy & high in shine.
  • Naturally scented with vanilla
  • Disguises dry and tired lips, transforming them into a juicy pout.
  • Verdict: A really versatile lipstick that can be worn sheer (by applying directly from the tube) or layered on for extra coverage by applying with a lip brush for a polished look. My lips stay moisturised for several hours & it fades into a natural tint.  I recommend going for the more vibrant shades in the collection seeing as they are so buildable.

I used a lip brush to apply a generous amount for a pigmented swatch.  No lip balm.

When applied directly from the tube, the finish is as per the arm swatch below.

MAYBELLINE Color Sensational Lip Color – Rosy Dream, Juicy Bubble Gum, Juicy Pink, Mauve Diamonds, Sugar Plum

Brand: Maybelline

  • Maybelline have added 10 new shades to the Color Sensational range, which I’ve spread over 3 posts.  This post is part 2 of 3, and is all about pinks & mauves.
  • The new shades are translucent & lightweight, but feature the signature nourishing feel.
  • Tastes fruity & juicy, reminds me of fruit chews like Starbursts candy. One of the YUMMIEST lipsticks I’ve tasted to date.
  • Verdict: Props to “Juicy Bubble Gum” – a blue pink shade that’s just blue enough to look like candy pink but not too blue that it clashes against neutral/warm skintones. For something more subdued, “Juicy Pink” is a modest & wearable everyday pink.
