JANE IREDALE PureGloss™ – Sugar Plum, Candied Rose, Iced Mocha – Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Brand: Jane Iredale
Range: PureGloss™ (New formula)
Shades: Sugar Plum, Candied Rose, Iced Mocha
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Jane Iredale has revamped its lipgloss range with their new and improved PureGloss range,  with a refreshed formula and sleek new packaging that now contains 35% more product in each tube.
  • The texture feels tacky like a lacquer with a strong grip & sculpting properties that revive my tired lips into a voluminous sculpted & smooth pout.
  • It doesn’t glide as smoothly as other glosses, but the lacquer finish is nevertheless easy thanks to the curved doe wand that fits the curve of my lips perfectly.
  • Long-lasting high shine finish.
  • Petroleum free formula, with key ingredients such as Moringa Butter, Orange Peel (hydrating), and Blackberry and Pomegranate extracts that double as anti-oxidants as well as leaving a pleasant flavour.
  • Available in 18 shades, Sugar Plum is a sweet peony pink with sparse shimmers, Candied Rose is is a shimmery rose gold, and Iced Mocha is a shimmery gold brown.
  • The shimmers – particularly in Candied Rose & Iced Mocha really glimmer under lighting and give lips added dimension creating the illusion of a full pout combined with the sculpting properties of the lacquer.
  • Verdict: The lip swatches were taken towards the end of a swatching session & my lips were feeling worse for wear & looking rather withered.   It just took a slick of  Jane Iredale’s PureGloss to revive my tired lips into a voluminous & healthy sculpted pout that felt soothed as well.  This is definitely my favourite lip product out of all the Jane Iredale lip products I have reviewed to date, and I highly recommend it for anyone that wants a product that instantly sculpts their  lips into a voluminous pout without the need for any tingly ingredients.

Shades: Sugar Plum, Candied Rose, Iced Mocha

MAYBELLINE NY Color Sensational High Shine Gloss

Brand: Maybelline
Range: NY Color Sensational High Shine Gloss
Shades: Almond Crush, Electric Shock, Plum Lustre, Iced Chocolate, Glisten Up Pink, Captivating Coral, Mirrored Mauve, One Shine Day, Gleaming Grenadine, Luminous Latte
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Give your lips a luminous look with finishes that range from molten glazes through to juicy sheens.
  • Wax free formula that glides incredibly smoothly, melting into lips coating them evenly without sinking into lines or sliding.
  • Despite being infused with Maybelline’s signature honey nectar ingredient, I find this collection features a strong scent of fruit chews (like Starbursts).
  • Available in 10 shades from petal pinks to eye popping coral.
  • Verdict: It’s not everyday that I’m impressed by a high street lip gloss range, but the smooth “lip hugging” formula has captivated me.  My favourite shades are Plum Luster (which I’m saving for Autumn), Electric Shock (cool pink that sits amazingly well even on my pigmented lips) and Iced Chocolate (creamy nude).

BYS Mega Shine Lipgloss – Watermelon, Bubbalicious

Brand: BYS
Range: Mega Shine Lipgloss
Shades: Watermelon, Bubbalicious
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Available in 17 shades, BYS Mega Shine Lipglosses are very smooth with a high shine finish.
  • Sheer coverage with a hint of colour that’s more noticeable with Watermelon despite what you’d guess from looking at the tube & skin swatch.
  • Very emollient, almost liquid in viscosity.  In fact Bubbalicious was a little runny, which I was a bit suspicious of (despite its name) as there shouldn’t be that many bubbles in a lipgloss tube!
  • Verdict: Watermelon was an easy-to-wear sheer pink gloss with a hint of shimmer that’s affordable for only $3.95 AUD.  As for Bubbalicious, not only were the bubbles worrying, the purple hues weren’t really effective in adding a lilac wash to my lip tone. Nevertheless it’s an affordable gloss in a hygienic squeeze tube great for those who don’t want to spend a lot for a glossy lip.

ESTEE LAUDER Pure Vivid Shine Lipstick – Hot Coralline, Power Pink, Poppy Love

ESTEE LAUDER, Lips, LIPSTICK, NC20, Yishan | by — November 6, 2012

Brand: Estee Lauder
Range: Pure Vivid Shine Lipstick
Shades: Hot Coralline, Power Pink, Poppy Love
Swatched by yours truly: Yishan

  • Launched as part of the Pure Colour Vivid Shine collection, the new lipstick collection features saturated lip colour with sparkling shine that gives a multi-faceted amplified finish.  Each shade contains silver and gold sparkle which neutralises lips, making them wearable on all skin tones.
  • I was given 3 shades to try – Poppy Love (a cherry red), Power Pink (pale blue pink) and Hot Coralline (a pale coral that actually looks nude)
  • Poppy Love was love at first swatch – intense in colour, brilliant sparkle and lips instantly look va va voom! It also does an amazing job at camouflaging lip flaws.
  • My next favourite is Hot Coralline. The pictures don’t do it justice – in the photos the pale coral looks like a sheer peachy nude on my lips, but in real life it’s a glistening nude sheen that’s sexier than a creamy nude in my opinion.
  • Power Pink is a glossy & sweet blue pink that would suit those with cooler undertones, or those into pale nude or pale pink lips.
  • Glides like a creamy lipstick, but leaves lips with a glossy film finish.
  • It feels moisturising at first application, but for those with dry lips I recommend pairing it with Lanolips 101 Ointment as the two textures fuse together quite nicely.
  • Verdict: This lipstick will appeal to those who love their lips to look mouth-watering and glisten under light – be it a sultry sparkling nude or a festive sparkling red.   Also check out Bluebell’s swatch of Fireball from the same range.

Poppy Love was love at first swatch, not only for its shade but for its ability to disguise tired lips & revive them into a power pout!

I had to swatch the paler shades on a different day, as these shades needed a flawless canvas for best results against my pigmented lips.
It looks sheer from the front, but under different angles the shimmer particles makes the colour more amplified under light.
